The Koenigsegg CCX is a super automobile developed by the Swedish company Koenigsegg Automotive AB. The CCX (Competition Coupe X) has been developed to celebrate 10 years since the first full-scale prototype of the car, developed by Christian von Koenigsegg and his team of talented engineers in Angelholm, Sweden.

The previous model of the car, the CCR was fitted with AP Racing 362 mm diameter steel discs front and rear. Koenigsegg engineers put much effort into reducing the 'unsprung' weight of the vehicle, and chose SystemST carbon-ceramic brakes to provide a lightweight brake system. Koenigsegg and SystemST engineers quickly developed a nupgraded braking system for the CCX, which included a larger 380 mm diameter front ceramic disc and 8-piston caliper. The rear ceramic disc size was kept the same as the original steel disc at 362 mm, with the rear brake package designed to use the existing brake and seperate handbrake calipers. In total, 12 Kg of unsprung weight was saved, even bearing in mind the larger disc size on the front axle.

The car was launched at the Geneva Motor Show in 2006, and since then, CCX cars fitted with SystemST carbon-ceramic brakes have sold to buyers across the world.

The Koenigsegg CCX is officially the quickest car around the BBC Top Gear circuit, the 806 bhp, 1180 Kg vehicle managing a time nearly a second quicker than it's closest rival.
